If you thought things couldn’t get any worse for Victor Valdes at Manchester United then you were wrong. Louis van Gaal wants to completely isolate the goalkeeper by preventing him from mingling with the first team at Carrington.
Goal report that van Gaal has threatened to fine Valdes if he arrives at Old Trafford before the first team had finished training, making sure that the former Barcelona stopper doesn’t engage with teammates.
It all started out so promisingly for Valdes at Old Trafford. Van Gaal, the man who gave Valdes his start at Barcelona, offered him a short-term contract with United where he could act as back-up to David De Gea.
However, the pair had a falling out late last season with van Gaal claiming that Valdes refused to play for the U21 side, effectively resulting in his banishment. He wasn’t included in the first team squad photo and he was denied a locker by van Gaal. He’s persona non grata to the staff but Spanish contingent have reportedly supported him.
No wonder, too, as van Gaal is taking things beyond discipline and is bullying Valdes at this stage. January can’t come soon enough for the player. Newcastle are said to be interested in signing him.
