Former Man United winger Andrei Kanchelskis has launched an outspoken attack on Louis Van Gaal’s tactics at Old Trafford, labeling his approach as ‘disgusting’.
Famed for their attack attack attack brand of football, the United team’s of year’s gone by are now turning into a distant memory for Red Devil fans.
It is no longer about being adventurous and more about being pragmatic and cautions under reds boss Louis Van Gaal. In some respects the Dutchman’s emphasis has worked, with United conceding only eight Premier League goals this season, the joint fewest in the league.
But Reds boss Louis Van Gaal has come under intense criticism for his side’s boring style of football, and there was no suggestion that United’s Dutch coach was keen to change that perception, after the Red Devils only managed one shot on target during their 0-0 draw with Crystal Palace.
The draw in South London was the third consecutive match in which Van Gaal’s United have failed to score, their last goal coming against tonight’s Champions League opponents CSKA Moscow in Russia on October 21st.
Speaking before tonight’s encounter, former Man United winger Andrei Kanchelskis spoke about his old side’s recent displays.
“The first game against CSKA showed that it’s possible to win against this team,” Kanchelskis told Sport Express.
“I was at the stadium and I was surprised how disgustingly United played in the first half. A lot of ball control but no sharpness at all.”
“It’s in the history and tradition of Man United to play wide and be sharp at the flanks but there is nothing like this now”
“Van Gaal is too pragmatic, his footballers play like robots,” he said.
“They are kept within a strict framework, they are not allowed to improvise, contrary to what Ferguson allowed us to do.
“Van Gaal, of course, is a good coach but, in my opinion, he is not for Manchester United. I’m looking at his game for the second season now.
