Manchester City decided to redesign the club crest earlier this year after giving fans the opportunity to voice their opinions on the current design.
The current badge consists of an eagle and three purely decorative stars has been operational since 1997, but after a month-long consultation period discovered an overwhelming demand for a round emblem.
The Blues were set for a big reveal on Boxing Day after posting cryptic messages around Manchester over the last few days.
But the more eagle-eyed of the online community have spotted the brand new design on the UK government’s Intellectual Property Office website, where City has applied for a trademark.
